Fansite Status

iloveGuildWars will meet requirements as a “Listed” fansite by:

  1. [N/A] Displaying Guild Wars material on a page separate from other non-ArenaNet materials;
  2. [YES] Presenting news on a page devoted to news posting;
  3. [YES] Attributing news from the official site appropriately, in order to avoid confusion between company news and site news;
  4. [YES] Presenting materials in an attractive format;
  5. [YES] Updating at least once weekly;
  6. [YES] Displaying an ArenaNet logo and link to ArenaNet’s site on the page of Guild Wars materials; and
  7. [YES] Displaying appropriate copyright information; and
  8. [STARTED 07-NOV-09] Providing the above services for at least 30 days.

iloveGuildWars will attempt to achieve “Honored” fansite status by:

  1. [---] Continuing to provide “Listed” fansite service for at least 60 days;
  2. [---] Updating at least twice per week;
  3. [---] Reporting news from the official site in a timely manner;
  4. [YES] Hosting or linking to a Guild Wars-related forum;
  5. [N/A] Expanding site sections and content within a reasonable period of time when new campaigns are released;
  6. [N/A] Updating content pages within a reasonable period of time when changes are made to Guild Wars through updates and other means; and
  7. [YES] Presenting a significant amount of original content, not merely a compilation (mirror) of ArenaNet-produced materials.

iloveGuildWars will furthermore attempt to achieve “Elite” fansite status by:

  1. [---] Continuing to provide “Honored” fansite service for at least 90 days;
  2. [YES] Focusing exclusively on Guild Wars and/or ArenaNet;
  3. [---] Updating when the official site is updated; carry Guild Wars news as it is posted or, when possible, as it takes place;
  4. [YES] Updating to report Guild Wars news from independent sources such as gaming sites and print publications;
  5. [---] Hosting a Guild Wars-specific forum or forum set (this requirement may be circumvented by listing as a “Specialty” site);
  6. [---] Presenting a substantial amount of original content, not merely a compilation (mirror) of ArenaNet-produced materials;
  7. [---] Posting all ArenaNet press releases, or post a direct link to them on the ArenaNet or Guild Wars site(s); and
  8. [---] Emailing ArenaNet fansite traffic statistics monthly.

iloveGuildWars may qualify for “Specialty” fansite status by:

  1. [---] Offering content comparable in quality to that of an Honored or Elite Fansite, but which is offered with a more narrow or specific focus; and/or
  2. [---] Choosing not to offer a forum or a front-standing news page, but offering an extensive encyclopedia, a frequently-published comic, or a periodic electronic magazine.

iloveGuildWars agrees that copyrighted content provided by ArenaNet:

  1. [YES] Must be used in a noncommercial context for private, personal use only;
  2. [YES] Includes all copyright and other notices associated with the content;
  3. [YES] Acknowledges and agrees that no title nor any other form of ownership to the content has been or will be transferred to iloveGuildWars from ArenaNet nor from anyone else;
  4. [YES - with permission] Will not alter, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer or in any other way modify the content;
  5. [YES] Agrees that ArenaNet has the right to request removal of its content at any time, for any reason; and
  6. [YES] Reflect positively on the game and official staff.

iloveGuildWars agrees to meet the listed Fansite Expectations:

  1. [YES] To meet and uphold high standards for quality for content and design;
  2. [YES] To abide by the legal requirements stated in the Terms of Use;
  3. [YES] To display the appropriate copyright, logo, and legal information and to attribute content and news posts from the official site;
  4. [YES] To assure that site content reflects positively upon the company and the game;
  5. [YES] To attribute news from the official site clearly so that there is no confusion between official news and fansite news;
  6. [YES] To disallow and remove links or promotion of adult (pornographic) sites, sites that provide or support software hacking or piracy, sites that support, advertise or offer in-game items for real currency, and sites that encourage game cheating;
  7. [YES] To moderate forums and live chat rooms to enforce reasonable behavior standards;
  8. [YES] To assure that all staff members behave appropriately and to make staffing decisions that assure that the entire site staff is fully in support of the program, the site, and most importantly, the community; and
  9. [YES] To abide by the game’s User Agreement and Rules of Conduct.

iloveGuildWars will not contain or link to sites containing:

  1. Hacks or cheats
  2. Pornography
  3. Inflammatory Content
  4. Unlawful content
  5. Objectionable content, as determined by ArenaNet

iloveGuildWars details site policies including:

  1. Copyright Information & infringement reporting
  2. Privacy Policy
  3. Terms of Use

Fansite Process:

  1. [YES] Complete site
  2. [YES - "Listed"] Ensure all requirements are met
  3. Email site URL to Community fansites manager for preliminary review
  4. Receive application form
  5. Submit application form
  6. Undergo formal review by CM
  7. Achieve Fansite Listing status
  8. Submit for Honored status after 60 days
